The Catholic Church arrived in Buenos Aires back at the time of the Spanish colonisation of America. The European immigrants who reached Buenos Aires were mostly Catholic and soon after their arrival the whole of Argentina’s population became Christian.
According to the Catholic Church, the term “sin” is conceived of as “an act that disobeys God’s will.” Sin brings forth “guilt,” which we cannot free ourselves from unless we confess and repent our sins. Confession allows the purgation of said sins, so that we can attain forgiveness.
Despite Buenos Aires’ strong Catholic spirit, it is still a city where vice, guilt and repentance flourish – it is undoubtedly “sin city.”
